Birds of Northern Michigan

The North Branch area has an abundance of things to enjoy: the scenery, fishing, hunting and kayaking are just a few of the pleasant activities. Our area is also blessed by a number of interesting and attractive birds. We are also fortunate to have a number of excellent photographers. Scot Jacot has provided some wonderful photos of the birds in our area. Here are a few with a short description of the birds. Baltimore Oriole It’s a sure sign of spring when the Baltimore Orioles show up. They are easily recognized by their bright orange and black coloring. They will often come to hummingbird feeders but you can also attract them with orange halves and with small amounts of grape jelly. Mallar
