Docks in Lovells Township

I think it is safe to say we all know at least one person who lost a dock, or part of one, in the recent flooding. One foundation board member counted 21 docks out of place on the North Branch between Kelloggs Bridge and Red Dog. As everyone contemplates rebuilding it is a good time to review the rules in place.
Gary Neumann sent us a note with the following reminders:
In all rivers and streams in the township no more than one dock per parcel is allowed.
The dock can be no longer than 12 feet, no wider than four feet, and it can extend no more than four feet over the water.
On all lakes in the township one dock is allowed for each one hundred feet of lake frontage.
The dock can be no longer than 36 feet, no wider than four feet, and no more than two boat mooring spaces are allowed per dock.
All docks must be placed no less than thirty feet from the side riparian lot line of the waterfront lot, as projected from the shoreline.
No dock can create a hazard to navigation.
